Pietro Pomponazzi's Exposition of Aristotle's De partibus animalium from 1521 is the first Renaissance commentary to this zoological writings. In the eighth lecture to the first book, which is presented here in the Czech translation, Pomponazzi deals with the issue of the subject of natural philosophy. According to him, the subject is also the intellective soul although this position is in discord with Aristotle's words in this particular book and Pomponazzi criticises Aristotle's both conclusions and argument. In addition, Pomponazzi touches also the topic of the immortality of the soul here as being connected with the issue. His lecture shows that Pomponazzi still highlights the philosophical exposition of the topic of the immortality resulting in its denying. He also holds a strict distinction between truths of faith, that he professes, and philosophy.
